Arik Kislin - Gansevoort Hotel Group, LLC.
Arik Kislin is a self made developer, real estate investor and entrepreneur. Currently Mr. Kislin is principal of Linx Industries, which is a diversified investment company that has significant stakes in many different businesses ranging from financial services to aviation, but his heart has always been with real estate, and with the Gansevoort Hotel Group, LLC, Kislin has demonstrated a shining talent.
The Early Years
Arik Kislin spent much of the early nineties involved as a principal in a New York City real estate company that developed and managed 3.6 million square feet that included the 1.5 million square foot Chelsea Market Complex. The Chelsea Market Complex was the spark needed to inspire the entire conversion of Manhattan's Meatpacking District transforming it from the tired industrial enclave to now one of New York City's most prominent areas. Subsequently Chelsea Market was sold to Angelo, Gordon & Co., but Kislin's vision remained.
In 2001, Arik Kislin collaborated with the Achenbaum family as a principal developer of the Gansevoort Hotel, forming Gansevoort Hotel Group, LLC. Chelsea Market may have started the trend, but this property was largely responsible for the total transformation of the meat packing district turning it into a major international fashion, dining, and nightlife destination.
The taste of success still on his tongue, Arik Kislin is involved in the development of two additional Gansevoort properties, one located in Miami, and one located in Manhattan's Park Avenue South neighborhood. The Miami and the Park Avenue South locations will be combination hotel-condominium developments. Gansevoort Hotel Group, LLC. still continues to seek opportunities for additional expansion for the U.S. and abroad as well boasting the highly recognizable Gansevoort brand.
Diversifying to Success
Gansevoort Hotel Group, LLC. certainly plays a huge part in Kislin's professional life, but in the quest for something a bit different, Kislin became part of the general aviation industry in 2004. With an equity investment in a small charter management company, Kislin turned a good business into a great one. The aviation company developed into a multifaceted firm that consists of a fleet of private jets, afull service aviation maintenance, fueling, and hanger facilities that are for the private sector. It is currently expanding in both New York and Florida.
Regarding Arik Kislin's personal life, he is a member of the New York Friars Club. Some of Mr. Kislin's many hobbies include his love of baseball in which he has been a lifelong player and fan, tennis and yachting. Mr. Kislin also enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two children.
